Welcome 2017!

31 Dec

In 2016 we’ve seen a lot of bad and a lot of good.

People have passed on, wars have been waged, and yet a kindness has come out of all of the anger and hatred that the world seems to have for itself.

Personally 2016 has been an incredible time! I started an incredible job with fantastic co-workers and incredible support from our management. My small business HostingEh has grown incredibly with some of the most fantastic clients I could have possibly asked for.

I’ve watched my little girls get a little bit older and a little bit wiser, and I get to share it all with some of the most supportive and loving friends and family!

I got to visit Toronto and watch the new Pure Pwnage movie with the most kickass people I know! Got to meet some new people too such as my new drinking buddy from England Jerry!Friends at The Madison

For me 2016 has been incredible, and I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store!

See you all in the New Year! Have a happy, healthy and joy filled end to 2016!

Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary

31 Oct

Five years ago on this very day, I married my very best friend.

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come in the last five years and how much we’ve already been through in this crazy roller coaster called life. We’ve had ups and downs, we’ve loved and lost, and yet still I am happy to wake up to you each and every day.

Even though you’re often in the background of everything that’s going on, it would not be even half of amazing of a life, if you hand’t touched it with your love and kindness.

Jenn you’ve not only made my life better, but you’ve made me better as a person, as a father, and as your husband. I am thankful for each and every day that I get to wake up and spend my life with you, and that will never change.

You have the right brand of crazy that matches mine, and I cannot wait to grow old together, to watch our kids grow into adults, and marry their own best friends should they choose to.

I love you with all of who I am and ever will be! Here’s to many more years of fun and excitement on this ride that we call life!

Happy Anniversary!

Back After a Weeks Vacation

18 Jul
My Daughters Violet and Rhys.

This past week I took the first vacation from work I’ve taken in several years. I spent my time at home with my wife and my girls and I could not be more grateful that I had the chance to do so.

I got to take them shopping, and for ice cream, and got to do all kinds of cuddling and playing with them. It was a tiring week but one filled with love and joy. I can’t wait to do it all again!

Until then, it’s back to work!

Pure Pwnage Trip Part 4: A Letter

26 Jan

Friends at The Madison

My Fellow Pure Pwnage Fans:

This past weekend in Toronto was an absolute blast, and I feel like I need to do some sharing before going back to adulting.

Getting to see everyone that I haven’t had the chance to see since long before I became a father was an amazing experience that was only surpassed by meeting a lot of people who I’ve only ever spoken to over the internet. I was absolutely blown away by how many people came out from near and far to not only see the movie, but to just spend time with a huge group of friends….. Even thinking about the weekend it seems silly to use the word friends as we’ve been as close as a family for so many years now.

Just because we don’t see each other IRL very often does not mean that you couldn’t contact any one of us for anything. We are one huge family who have known each other for almost 10 years and those kinds of friends don’t come along every day.

I’d especially like to thank Isaac Wilson (IW4) for organizing our friends to the south and getting everyone that wanted to come to the show, to the show. You’ve shown extraordinary compassion, leadership and friendship from as long as I’ve known you and it is truly an honor to count you among my friends.

To Geoff Lapaire, Jarett Cale, Mark Single, Miranda Plant, and the rest of the Pure Pwnage cast and crew: You guys killed it! Even after all these years, your hard work and dedication have once again translated to one of the funniest and most incredible movie experiences I’ve ever had the good fortune of witnessing.

I’m not sure how it is you all manage to stay so humble and grounded, but your fans certainly do appreciate it! I’ve heard nothing but good things about how good you are with your fan base, and for that we are all truly thankful! Keep on kicking ass!

This weekend was a total blast with all kinds of amazing people and as we all go back to adulting I think we’re all going to be thinking about the next time we all get together and have an incredible weekend together again.

A really good friend started out the night with this quote and that’s what I’ll leave you with:

There are good ships and wood ships, and ships that sail the sea, but the best ships are friendships, may they always be!

Incredible Customer Service

14 Jan

Anyone that knows me has heard me talk at length about how terrible some companies can be when it comes to customer service. Some businesses grow so big and make so much money that they forget the people that are buying their stuff are the ones who are helping them grow and flourish. Delta Faucet Canada is no such company.

A couple of weeks ago our shower head broke, so I took a trip to Home Depot and found what I thought to be a very cool replacement called the Delta Temp20 shower head. Not only did it look good, it showed us how hot or cold the water was in numbers and in colors which is entirely powered by the water already flowing through the head.

“How cool!” I thought to myself. I couldn’t wait to get it home and installed! WIthin a few minutes I had it connected to our shower and working perfectly.

Within a day or so my wife noticed that there was water leaking out through the button used to change pressure settings. This was unfortunate but we just assumed because it was a shower head that this was normal. Within a couple more days, the button ceased to function.

That’s when I posted the following tweet:

Delta Faucet Canada responded within 5 minutes of my tweet which if you take a look was at 7PM EST! I was absolutely floored!

The following morning Jason from Delta was in touch to get my shipping information for the replacement head, and we even talked about our babies which I thought was a very cool personal touch.

What happened next blew my mind! The day after providing my information, a brand new faucet showed up at my home and we installed in that night. My wife took it for a test shower and it was just as amazing as we thought it would be!

We were completely happy, and the process was as painless as it could have possibly been. Delta Faucet Canada had earned a customer for life as you’ll see from my previous two posts.

Today a package arrived from Delta which confused me at first. I had received my replacement part and was not expecting anything further from Delta.

The package included a super personal note from Jason at Delta and a couple of little gifts for myself and my kids. This goes above and beyond good customer service, and made me feel more like a family friend than a customer.

Delta Faucet Canada’s customer service game is on point, and I could not be more thankful for everything they’ve done to help out with the minor problem we had with a product!

Thank you to Jason and everyone on the Delta Faucet Canada team! You’ve made my week!

Becoming Daddy Part 2

8 Nov

On Wednesday November 4th 2014 Jenn and I welcomed our second daughter into the world, our lives and our hearts. She is everything we could have hoped for and we are thrilled to have her with us! That being said, I never really knew how much I needed Jenn before today.

It’s been an incredibly busy and overwhelming day today. I forgot how much work newborns can be when they’re so little and defenseless. Sometimes the formula doesn’t agree with them, they need their diapers changed a lot more often, and they eat like the food is going to disappear!

It’s been a wild ride and as much as I joke about being able to handle this all by my lonesome, without Jenn I’d be dead inside of a week. I have no idea how she handles it and is not completely exhausted by the end of the day.

Fathers Day

16 Jun
The Goldenberg Family

It’s been almost three years since I lost my father.

Life became rather interesting and complicated for a short time after he was gone. We were a family without our patriarch. We were a ship without the captain. We we a little lost.

We eventually found our way, but it was because of the lessons we learned from our father. It was because our father had steered us straight so many times that what we needed to do was ingrained in our minds. We had to take care of each other, love each other, and be there for each other.

The Goldenberg Family

This year was the first year that I was wished a happy fathers day. I responded that right now I am just a dad. In my mind a father is someone who loves and nurtures a child as my father did with me. A father is a man who supports his children, and steers them in the right direction when they get off course. A father is someone who is there to talk to no matter what is going on.

My father was a great man, and if I am even half of the father he was, I will be proud. My father did everything in his power for us. He made sure that we had everything we wanted and needed in life, and seldom asked for anything more in return aside from being a good kid.

I love and miss my father every day. But he and everything he has taught me in my life is sealed in my heart and will never be gone.

Happy fathers day to all of the real fathers out there.
